ABOUT THE UNISA ART GALLERY

Since our inception in 1986, the Unisa Art Gallery has evolved into becoming one of South Africa’s significant exhibition galleries. The Unisa Art Gallery is privileged to own an intriguing permanent collection made up of some of the most prolific contemporary South African and international artists.

The Unisa Art Gallery hosts a range of exciting exhibitions each year, focusing on diverse and relevant aspects in the arts relevant globally, continentally, and moreover with a specific emphasis on South Africa.

Research and education form part of the Unisa Art Gallery's services to its community, which include students, staff members, and the public.

One can use the Unisa website and access archives to do research by employing our inventory of catalogues, permanent art collection, artist walkabouts, workshops, and learning sessions which serve to inform and empower visitors who physically come to the gallery, as well as visitors on our digital platforms.

HOW TO GET HERE

The Unisa Art Gallery is on the Unisa Muckleneuk campus, Preller Street, located on the ground floor of the New Kgorong building. From OR Tambo International Airport take the R21 towards Pretoria and from Johannesburg take the N1 to Pretoria. Then take the Eeufees off-ramp and follow the Sunnyside M5 signs.  

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The gallery is open to the public between 10:00 am to 15:00 from Tuesday to Friday. Closed on Weekends and public holidays. 

Entry to the gallery is free
